Stars prepare for Usuthu six-pointer

Ea Lla Koto will be targeting a return to winning ways when AmaZulu make the trip to Goble Park in Saturday’s only Absa Premiership fixture.

Stars will be determined to make amends for what was a disappointing 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium last Sunday, a result that ended Stars three-match unbeaten run.

Nikola Kavazovic’s men are now just one point clear of the dreaded drop zone and level on points with 13th-placed Baroka FC, albeit with a game in hand.

And, with the 12th-placed Black Leopards holding a four-point cushion on Stars and Baroka, a positive result against 11th-placed Usuthu is a must.

However, it won’t an easy task for Stars as AmaZulu will be high on confidence after beating title hopefuls Bidvest Wits in Durban last Saturday.

Usuthu have also claimed the scalps of Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City FC in 2019, but slumped to a 2-1 defeat against bottom-of-the-table Maritzburg.

Head-to-head statistics:

* Both clubs have met each other 16 times
* Ea Lla Koto have won 8
* Usuthu have won 3
* 8 stalemates between the two sides
