On behalf of Free State Stars we would like to offer our condolences to Bloemfontein Celtic following the passing of former owner Rantlai Petrus Molemela.
Molemela, who was the life-time president of the Premiership outfit, passed away this morning after a long-term battle with illness, at the age of 83.
We would like to pay our respects to one of the most influential father figures in South African football history for his contribution to local football.
Siwelele chairman Max Tshabalala issued the following statement on the club’s official website: “We are saddened by the death of our mentor, leader and father-figure at the team.
“We are incredibly devastated and emotionally paralyzed by the loss of such a valuable and immensely experienced administrator who not only made a contribution at Celtic but for soccer, sport and the community at large.
“It is painful losing Ntate at this time when we genuinely needed him for his motivation and guidance towards both the management and players. We will forever cherish his dedication and absolute love towards the team.
“He has built a legacy that we have to maintain as a brand. May his soul rest in peace.”
Details of the funeral are yet to be disclosed.
