Ea Lla Koto’s 2017/18 ABSA Premiership season comes to a thrilling end against league runners-up Orlando Pirates on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
Ahead of facing Maritzburg United in the final of the Nedbank Cup in Cape Town on 19 May, Stars will look for a strong performance against the Buccaneers at Orlando Stadium.
In sixth place with 40 points, a win could see Coach Luc Eymael and his men as high as fourth, depending on other results, with a top-eight place already secured.
Since the 2005/06 season both teams have played 28 matches in all competitions with Ea Lla Koto winning four and Pirates 14 times while 10 of the matches have ended in a stalemate.
For Pirates this match is the end to a fantastic season where they improved by nine places on last season, and have qualified for the CAF Champions League.
But making the Sea Robbers’ task more challenging this weekend is a lengthy injury list that includes Musa Nyatama, Mpho Makola, Thembinkosi Lorch and Thabiso Kutumela.
Luvuyo Memela, Mark van Heerden, Gladwin Shitolo and Bernard Morrison are all also still coming back from injury.
Ahead of the tie, Coach Eymael said he is looking to his charges to maintain their focus on the job at hand.
“It’s a tough game. It’s a nice game to play. My players are motivated.
“We will put into place a plan and try to collect points against Pirates like we do all the time.”
For Ea Lla Koto, defender Mobbie Nyiko is doubtful for the clash.
