Free State Stars MultiChoice Diski side suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In a fixture Ea Lla Koto looked to gain momentum in the reserve league, the ruthless efficiency from the home side shocked the young stars from Bethlehem.
As early as the ninth minute Stars keeper Samkelo Mbambo was called into action when he saved a low drive from Dithloriso Mphyane and the visitors struggled to gain early inroads.
However, Sello Jaftha threatened on the counter with his pace and direct running and got his sides first shot at goal eventually in the 20th minute.
But the home side went onto break the deadlock through experienced former Milano midfielder Nazier Jacobs, on the half-hour mark.
Just before the break Jaftha was at it again for Ea Lla Koto, but this time his effort shaved the post.
The near miss proved to be costly when Rise and Shine doubled their lead eight minutes into the second-half through Dikgang Ngcobo.
Stars pressed forward with real intent after the early disappointment and Jason Abrahams was provided with a half-chance to reduced the deficit, but the young forward was unable to steer the ball goal bound.
And City duly punished the visitors with a third goal late on with Mphyane scoring a brilliant individual strike.
