Goalkeeper Samkelo Mbambo has expressed his gratitude after making his PSL debut against Polokwane City on Wednesday night.
Mbambo joined Ea Lla Koto at beginning of last season, and the 28-year-old shot stopper was thrilled to make his first appearance in the PSL, having played most of his matches for the MDC team.
“I am relieved to have been given a chance and I would like to thank coach for showing trust in me,” said Mbambo.
“It was always going to be difficult to break into the team with quality keepers I was competing with, the likes of Thela Ngobeni last season, Oliver Kwizera and Ali Sangare, who are both internationals keepers.
“It was nerve-wracking at first because the team is languishing at the bottom of the log and there was so much pressure of winning going into that match.
“I must say I gained momentum after cleanly picking up two corner kicks and also the experience guys like Rooi also helped me to calm my nerves.
“I think I did fairly well although I conceded but the point the team picked up at the end was very valuable.”
