Free State Stars were back in action this weekend, playing in the Maize Cup, while hosting a successful soccer clinic and Gala dinner.
In the first match of the annual competition, Kaizer Chiefs beat ABC Motsepe side Buya Muthu 2- 0.
Ea Lla Koto played to a goalless draw after 90 minutes against fellow PSL side Chippa United before winning 3-1 on penalties.
Amakhosi then met Stars in the final and after 90 minutes the score was 1-1, following a first-half strike by Leonardo Castro before Eleazer Rogers equalised later in the second from the penalty spot.
The match had to be decided on penalties with Chiefs ultimately claiming a 6-5 penalty shootout win to take the Maize cup, for the second time in a row.
