Free State Stars out to take Chiefs scalp in Mbombela

Free State Stars will be out to break history when they travel to the Mbombela Stadium to take on Kaizer Chiefs in a vital Absa Premiership encounter on Saturday.

Ea Lla Koto will hope to build on an encouraging second-half performance against Golden Arrows last weekend even though it ended in a 2-1 defeat.

Stars will also be looking to pick up their win in four league games as they look to stay clear of the relegation zone.

Ea Lla Koto though have not beaten Kaizer Chiefs in a league clash since December 2010 but will be confident of lifting themsleves for the big game.

Chiefs have also been on a poor run of form of late in the PSL as they have not taken three points in any of their last five league outings.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Stars have met in 38 league matches since 1996.

Kaizer Chiefs have claimed 25 wins compared to just three for Ea Lla Koto, while 10 matches have been drawn.

The game will kick off 3pm.
