New head coach Nikola Kavazovic will be targeting all three points when Free State Stars travel to bottom-of-the-table Maritzburg United on Wednesday evening.
Ea Lla Koto have been made a endure an extremely tough run of games over the past three weeks with home games against title-chasing duo Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits.
The game against Pirates ended a 3-1 victory for the Soweto giants, while last Saturday’s clash with the Clever Boys saw Gavin Hunt’s men secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Goble Park.
And, having shown signs of improvement in Kavazovic’s first game at the helm – against Wits on January 5 – Stars will see the trip to Pietermaritzburg as a must-win Premiership encounter.
However, Ea Lla Koto will have to do so without the services of Sibusiso Masina and Tshepo Tema as the duo sits out the game through suspension.
Winger Sinethemba Jantjie, meanwhile, is expected to feature for Stars despite continued interest from Wits in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old agreed a pre-contract deal with the Clever Boys recently, but Hunt is reportedly keen to bring him to the league leaders now rather than the end of the campaign.
When asked for comment on the matter by KickOff, Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena said: “What for? We will cross the bridge when we get to it, but right now I don’t know. We will cross the bridge when we get to it.”
Ea Lla Koto are currently in 14th place in the Premiership, having picked up 13 points from 16 games.
