Free State Stars will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to four games when travel to SuperSport United’s Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ea Lla Koto have seemingly turned the corner of late, recording one win and two draws in their last fixtures, with veteran striker Eleazar Rodgers playing a crucial role in securing back-to-back draws.
The former Santos frontman scored in the 88th minute to help secure a 2-2 draw against Black Leopards at the start of the month, before again popping up with the equalising goal in a 1-1 draw with Polokwane City in midweek.
He will, of course, be hoping for a third goal in as many games as he aims to help Stars lift themselves out of the dreaded drop zone.
The good news for Stars is that SuperSport’s midfield maestro, Aubrey Modiba, is set to miss out on Sunday due to suspension. Without Modiba pulling the strings in midfield – he has eight assists to his name this season – the hosts could struggle to create chances.
In terms of the head-to-head record between the two teams, this will be the 24th time that they square off.
- Ea Lla Koto have won four of those encounters
- Matsatsantsa have won 10 of the clashes.
- Nine of their previous clashes ended in stalemate
