Ea Lla Koto face Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup last-16 at Goble Park on Saturday, kick-off 3:30pm.
It is the first of two matches against the Chilli Boys, ahead of next Saturday’s Premiership fixture.
A 2-1 win over Super Eagles in the previous round set up this tie, and since then Stars held league Mamelodi Sundowns 1-1 and AmaZulu 0-0 before beating Platinum Stars 2-1 last weekend.
Chippa, meanwhile, defeated Phiva Young Stars 2-0 away from home in their Nedbank Cup clash, ahead of a 0-0 draw with Baroka and two losses in the league, 4-2 against Orlando Pirates and 2-0 to Cape Town City.
They have a new manager in former boss Vladislav Heric, who has again taken up the reins and returns to the club where he won promotion to the Premiership in the 2013/14 season.
Ahead of the game, Heric told the press: “I am happy with what I have seen at training.
“I like the attitude and hard work that the players have displayed so far since I arrived at the club.
“We have an injury-free and competitive squad for the game against Free State Stars.”
A quarter-final tie awaits the winner of the game, with the draw set for Thursday 15 March 2018 at the Clock Tower in Cape Town from 7:30pm.
