New head coach Nikola Kavazovic has made the decision to trim his Free State Stars squad, releasing five players in the January transfer window.
The Serbia-born tactician, officially unveiled on 20 December after obtaining his work permit, has spent the past few weeks running the rule over the players at his disposal.
And, after steering Stars to a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Maritzburg United on Wednesday evening, a decision has been made on five members of the squad.
The following players have been released:
Left-back Klaas joined Stars in March last year after being released by Polokwane City a few months prior, while central midfielder Cesaire Gandze was signed from Congolese side AC Leopards.
Centre-forward Maboke Matlakala was drafted in from Cape Umoya Utd in the off-season, but featured sparingly as he made just three Premiership appearances.
Also departing Goble Park is attacking duo Judas Moseamedi and William Twala.
Midfielder Twala joined on a free transfer from Kaizer Chiefs in August 2018, while Moseamedi joined Stars on a season-long loan from Cape Town City at the start of the current campaign.
