Free State Stars and Platinum Stars shared the spoils in Saturday’s Premiership encounter in Bethlehem, with a 1-1 scoreline after strikes from Bongi Ntuli and Edward Manqele.
It was a tight opening 20 minutes with both outfits feeling each other out though the game soon came to life. In the 22nd minute, Robert Ng’ambi made good progress in the area but was perhaps unfortunate to see his header go wide of Badra Sangare’s goal.
In the 31st minute, Dino Visser did well to make a save for the visitors after Ea Lla Koto started to show greater threat going forward. However, Dinaledi hit the front after a foul was given in the box, and Bongi Ntuli converted with confidence beyond Sangare.
Nonetheless, the home side showed good character and managed to find the equaliser before the break as Edward Manqele hit home in the 43rd minute beyond Visser, who could do little to make any difference on this occasion. Sinethemba Jantjie was credited with the assist.
After the interval, it remained tight with not many clear openings being created for both outfits. Substitute Thobani Kunene did threaten briefly although his header was routinely saved by Sangare.
Visser also had to be on his toes to stop a Free State Stars effort on goal in the 61st minute, though it ended 1-1 at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem.
